Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory

Industry 4.0 is not a one-time project: small steps to big progress.

Digitalisation in the factories is no longer a privilege, but a duty. For many companies, however, Industry 4.0 is still a book with seven seals. Besides know-how, many factories also lack the necessary resources to implement Industry 4.0 requirements. FUJI recommends that Industry 4.0 be implemented step by step – in independent individual solutions – focusing on the automation and digitalization of processes that are “obvious” so that added value can be achieved quickly and the base for the Smart Factory can be created. That means, responsible persons should proceed successively, starting with the “low hanging fruits”. Which processes can be automated relatively easily to achieve a good result quickly?

Smart factory (SEMI SMT-ELS)

In 2018 FUJI introduced the state-of-the-art and comprehensive communication protocol SEMI SMT-ELS. This offers a transfer function to transfer both the products themselves and their transfer data between connected machines. Additionally, it fulfils the requirements for communication in general. For example, Information on machine settings and process feedback between the connected machines of the entire production line can be exchanged. The standard allows users to freely create a production system and to use the information permanently. Even the short-term support of the variable mix and quantity production is guaranteed. In addition, SEMI SMT-ELS can be used for communication between a host computer and the machines.
